A Cross-layer Qos Aware Node Disjoint Multipath Routing Algorithm for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

چکیده
Future mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are expected to be based on all-IP architecture and be capable of carrying multitudinous real-time multimedia applications such as voice, video and data. It is very necessary for MANETs to have a reliable and efficient routing and quality of service (QoS) mechanism to support diverse applications which have variances and stringent requirements for delay, jitter, bandwidth, packet loss. Routing protocols such as AODV, AOMDV, DSR and OLSR use shortest path with the minimum hop count as the main metric for path selection, hence are not suitable for delay sensitive real time applications. To support such applications delay constrained routing protocols are employed. These Protocols makes path selection between source and destination based on the delay over the discovered links during routing discovery and routing table calculations. We propose a variation of a node-disjoint Multipath QoS Routing protocol called Cross Layer Delay aware Node Disjoint Multipath AODV (CLDMAODV) based on delay constraint. It employs cross-layer communications between MAC and routing layers to achieve link and channel-awareness. It regularly updates the path status in terms of lowest delay incurred at each intermediate node. The performance of the proposed protocol is compared with single path AODV and NDMR protocols. Proposed CLDM-AODV is superior in terms of better packet delivery and reduced overhead between intermediate nodes.

In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...
متن کاملImproving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...
متن کاملThe Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
متن کاملA Novel Cross-layer Node-Disjoint Multipath Routing Protocol for Ad Hoc Networks
Finding multipath routes for Ad Hoc networks is a challenging task due to mobility of nodes. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer node disjoint multipath routing protocol AODV-MCPI. This routing protocol works in conjunction with MAC-CPI protocol at MAC layer. The protocol at MAC layer ensures that there are no collisions due to interference as every node ensures a minimum of ‘safe-distance’...
متن کاملA QoS Routing Protocol for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Based on Multipath
With the development of Ad Hoc networks, the demand of QoS becomes more and more than ever before, it is more important to provide QoS guarantee for multimedia application. Most of present QoS routing algorithm based on single path, which do not take full advantage of resource of networks. This paper proposes a QoS-based multipath routing protocol for Ad Hoc network. Routing mechanism is descri...
